Xiaomi 12S Pro: wrap UP

Xiaomi is slated to introduce a 12S series as a late-year refresh of its 2022 flagship smartphone series. However, the company is also scheduled to release the most expensive variant of its current line first.

It is not expected to gain any speed improvements over its predecessor, though the OEM recently added a list of new devices that charge at 67W to the official 3C database, and the 12 Ultra was reportedly on that list.

Now, Xiaomi has certified newer 5G smartphones, with one (the 2206122SC) supporting 120W instead.

It is considered to be a version of the 12S Pro (or “L2S”) based on Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, but the rumored flagship may also have an alternative SKU (L2M) that uses the Dimensity 9000, but without the 120W charging specification.

However, the possibility of a somewhat slower charging pace could help support other rumors of a ceramic unibody or cutting-edge specs incompatible with excessive heat for the Ultra.

After all, this was Xiaomi’s reason for leaving 120W charging out of the inaugural Mix Fold.
